The offenses were on display Saturday night in Los Angeles as FC Dallas broke open a 2-2 halftime game running out 6-3 winners in a wild affair. The first half was entertaining enough and new FC Dallas signing defender Heath Pearce had to be thinking "what the heck am I getting into" after watching neither side play any defense. FC Dallas raced out to a 2-0 lead on a free kick goal from Dave van den Bergh and a wonderful goal from Jeff Cunningham. On the Cunningham goal, it was a perfectly placed long ball from Atiba Harris which Jeff Cunningham expertly brought down on the dead run before slotting past Galaxy keeper Donovan Ricketts.
LA would answer back though grabbing a pair of goals to send the match to halftime tied 2-2. The second half opened very slowly with both sides looking content to play at a much slower pace. The opening 25 minutes of the half produced very little, but then the fireworks began.
In the 71st Dax McCarty broke the tie when he got on the end of a Jeff Cunningham cross. The lead would go to 4-2 in the 82nd when a perfectly placed Dax McCarty cross found a diving Atiba Harris for the header goal. Only a minute later it was 5-2 as David Ferreira finished a long run by slotting the ball home.
The 6th goal came only 4 minutes later. This time it was Cunningham again as he rifled home a wonderful shot off a perfectly weighted pass from Brek Shea. The Galaxy would grab one back through Edson Buddle, but the match ended 6-3 to FC Dallas. Jeff Cunningham ended the evening with two goals and two assists.
